Types of Therapy

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing/EFT (SE; Emotion Focused Therapy) allows for your your mind and body to connect in adaptive ways to process ‘‘emotional blocks’’ that feel stuck in processing. We work towards understanding and tracking body sensations attached to trauma experiences in order to create new ways of releasing any ''emotional blocks’. Through mindful somatic experiencing, we have an opportunity to develop and create space for you to feel, experience, and process emotions in a healthier way.

Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) has us examine the different parts of us that exist from childhood to adulthood. Maybe a younger part of you feels alone— what would it look like for us to make space for this part and have it feel welcomed into your life today? How does this part relate to you as a person now as we observe it objectively? As we connect these dots together, and notice you as a sum of these parts, we work towards you practicing self-acceptance in the most authentic form that it can appear.

AEDP

Feeling like you notice behaviors that help you avoid the ‘‘real problems’’? Do you feel more avoidant or anxious, and feel the need to escape? Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is a type of therapy that helps us examine and notice our emotions in a transformative process rather than a solitary one. We work towards creating a space that is relationally safe and welcoming of all emotions — targeting the defenses that can be more inherently avoidant or anxiety inducing. We undo the aloneness together and any sense of shame from emotional experiencing as we name and identify the core emotions underneath the surface.
